5.2.2.1 Super Blocks

Super Blocks represent a sequence of regular blocks linked together and, like regular blocks, are linked to other track objects, one on the left and another on the right. The represented sequence of blocks (known as inferior blocks) is hooked also to this superblock. Trains travel from one end to the other – with the caveat that they travel through the sequence of the inferior blocks.

Speed limits and stations are properties of the inferior blocks. Therefore a train running through the superblock may encounter several different speed limits and more than one station.

The panel is the same in Run mode and in Edit mode.

Fields are:

  1. Internal Key: a unique non-modifiable identifier provided by the system.

  2. Name: an optional identifier. Editable in edit mode.

  3. Occupy Status: whether the block is free, inroute (left or right), occupied, in maintenance, admin blocked (display only)

  4. Length from one end to the other. Display only.

  5. Traffic Direction: The direction trains can normally travel. Can be overridden manually, not relevant for switching moves. Field shows “****” for connector-only blocks

  6. A graphic showing the block where each end shows the internal key of the element it is connected to – clicking on it will open a window showing the details for that particular element. In Edit mode, a right click will copy this link information into a link maintenance tool from which the connection can be manipulated.

  7. Show me where it is: activates the main window where a marker has been placed on the block for you to easy locate (hit <ESC> there to return)

  8. Exit: closes this window.

  9. Reachable Dest View Opens a panel where you can view which stations or exits and be reached without changing the direction when leaving this block.

  10. Link Info Opens a window which shows all linkages from this block including unused one.

  11. Link Superblock: Opens a window where you can complete the setup of this superblock. (1)
